feed your ears - Foxy little conchords

This week, 3 more artists you may not have heard of, but they definitely deserve a listen.

Little Red

The golden era of rock and roll is alive and well in the hands of 5 boys from Melbourne, Australia.
After hearing Little Red, you're gonna want to slip into your poodle skirt, slick your hair back with Bryl Cream and head down to the Milkbar in your Hotrod.
Just don't get out, you'll look ridiculous.

Oh yeah, the album is way cool!

Fleet Foxes

How do describe Fleet Foxes? it's not easy.
They describe their music as "Baroque harmonic pop jams".
Still confused?

Best just to listen i think.

There's certainly elements of Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Booys and Crosby, Stills & Nash in there.
I highly recommend going to there myspace page for more tunes.

Flight of the Conchords

If you haven't heard Flight of the Conchords yet, you're missing out!
They describe themselves as,
"Formerly New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo".

They've been doing amazingly well here and in Britain, and they're album debuted at Number 3 on the American Billboard Charts. Awesome!

See ya next week!

Feed your ears

Is your CD collection looking a little... uninspired?
Too embarrassed to let your friends choose something at your next Mcgyver,
Maccas and Malibu night?
Do you get overwhelmed and giddy in the record store when you can't find an artist you recognise and mutter to yourself, "Who are these bands? I've never heard of them. They must be shit!"

Well, help is at hand.

Read on, my friends, and be guided through the wonderful world of today's music.
Each week I'll be highlighting 3 artists I think you should check out.
I'll try and cover as many different styles as possible to appeal to everyone's taste.
Hopefully you'll discover some great new music; and the next time your friends go through your CD's they'll think to themselves,
"Wow, these people are so cultured".

I'm going to keep the posts as short as possible. We're all busy and the last thing you want, is to have to read some NOVEL written by me.

Now go and make a coffee, get comfy and cuddle up with some fine tunes.

First up, The Black Keys.

This Blues/Rock duo hail from Akron, Ohio.
Patrick Carney on drums, Dan Auerbach on guitar and vocals.
For a 2 piece, they've got a massive sound.
Their new album, Attack and Release is so good.

Trace and I saw them live recently, they're awesome!

Check out the clip below.

Next, the sublime Joan as Policewoman.
Joan has been around for a while with bands like The Dambuilders and
Antony and the Johnsons and has played with numerous other acts.

I first heard Joan in 2006 when she released her first full length solo album, Real life.
She has just released her follow up, titled To Survive.

Here is the first single taken from Real Life.
I cannot recommend this album highly enough!
This next song started my love affair with Joan. It's called, The Ride.

Finally, The Ting Tings.
This English duo, Jules de Martino and Katie White have produced a remarkable album that's pure pop!

If you like your music up, happy and slightly disturbed, you're gonna love The Ting Tings.
Their first album, We started nothing was released in May this year and it's already a hit.

Hope you liked the tunes, and please, if you have any suggestions on artists I should know about, let me know.

See you again next week!
